OUR INSPIRATION

The quote below is from the book "Get off your Donkey" by Reggie McNeal.  This quote inspired Not in Our Backyard's creation.  We believe it is our mission to "get off our donkeys and do something for others."

Maybe we can’t change the world but we can change our street. We may not be able to change our community’s overall graduation rates, but you can mentor a kid out of becoming a high school dropout. Wiping out hunger might be too daunting a task, but packing food into school kids’ backpacks so they can eat over the weekend is doable. If enough of us get off our donkeys, determined to be a part of the solution, to address other problems, perhaps we can arrest the downhill slide for many people, maybe even our communities and our country.
